Join us for an evening of mystery at Verdant Works as we travel back to 1859 and experience a surprisingly modern case.
Sarah Cairns brought a case against her overseer James Hill after he struck her three times at work.
The police court came to their decision, but will you come to the same one? Listen to Sarah’s co-worker, employer, and doctor all give evidence and see if you believe he caused her to miss three weeks of work- beyond a reasonable doubt.
Due to the sensitive nature of the topics covered, we’ve partnered up with Dundee Women’s Aid, and we’ll explore how some of the themes and ideas brought up by the case are still relevant today.
