Calum Wallis is an artist occupied with the act of drawing and how it can bring us closer to the environments we inhabit, whether they be the windy corner of a street or a weather-beaten cliff face. He is currently nearing the completion of his MA in Drawing at DJCAD, where he has been testing the boundaries of his drawing practice for the past year.
Calum will be leading a 2-hour “life drawing” class with plants as the subject as part of the International Garden Photographer of The Year exhibition.
Attendees of this class will be given a series of drawings prompts to encourage different approaches in their seeing and drawing, which will hopefully lead to the creation of some curious and beautiful works of art! These will range from short, experimental exercises of 2-5 minutes to longer “poses” of 30-40 minutes, with a break in the middle for tea, coffee and sharing work. Attendees will of course, be free to engage with or ignore the prompts as they wish.
The workshop includes the materials needed.
